Richard Nathaniel Wright: 1908-1960
Born on a plantation in Natchez, Mississippi. Parents Ella and Nathaniel Wright, brother Alan. Graduated the 9th grade as validvictorian. In 1924 published his first story in a local newspaper called "The Voo-doo of Hell's Half-Acre". He then moved to Chicago where he worked as a post office clerk. He got involved in the Communist party and wrote atricles for a couple of Chicago Communist magazines. In 1931 published his first major story called "Superstition"......
